To SnowShoe or Not to SnowShoe?

That was the question today and I can answer it with a firm no way! Since last winter I have kinda wanted some snowshoes and after looking on ol' craigslist I found some and I was eager to get out and use them.  Unfortunately there wasn't enough snow too.  Since I finally got a nice camera I took a bunch of pics.

24 hours of Palmer Park

the fast one!!!!!
The 24 hour national championships were held in Colorado Springs this year and I was signed up on a 4 man team with Jay, Keith & Aaron and my hope was that I was not the anchor.  With Jay and his night riding crew there were a total of 3, 4 person teams all with the inflexible theme.
With the race starting Saturday at noon and with registration opening up on Friday I made the trip down to Colorado Springs to meet up with my teammates and set-up our pit area.

I always like to be able to show up the night before a race just get in the right mind set.  By the time we finished setting up the pits and camp it was late and I was starving so we balled outrageous and went to the Steaksmith restaurant and threw down on some catfish and 2 trips to the salad bar with a glass of wine down the hatch I slept like a baby.  I woke up in the morning feeling really good and ready to race, the only thing left was to pick the order we would race in.  We all drew straws and Jay was to ride 1st then Keith, Aaron and myself pulling the anchor leg not what I wanted but I wasn't going to bitch about it that's for sure besides that would give me a chance to hang out and make sure that everybody got out fast and ready.

Thanks to Jay and Keith for making up some cool ass jersey and making us look like we know what we are doing.  We had a big pit area and it was really cool to have a lot of people to hang out with in between laps.
everybody getting ready

some cool bikes

all lined up

One of the cool parts about being first is the Le mans start where everybody runs to their bike.  I think Jay has done both starts this year, I think he is starting to get the hang of it because he was a lot faster this time.

and there off!!

Jay getting ready to rip lap Number 1!

So I have been sitting on this post for a while I worked on it and as I was going over what I would write, I realized that I had a lot of fun and met some uber cool people like Nick who is just a bad ass and I would love to race more with that guy.  How could I forget Robin she was the one I was always chasing and I still never got to ride a night lap with her ( she made a wrong turn ).  This is all I am going to write about it I just feel I wasn't satisfied at the end of the day, yeah I pushed myself and I rode hard and was competitive I was just left feeling empty!  Not sure what that means but I am going to have to find that out.  So here are the rest of the pictures I have.

always a crooked helmet!

The coolest group of people to spend a weekend riding bikes with!!!!!

I just want to say thank you to everybody and I can't wait to do it again next year......only better!
